This tour will take you to the museum, the Visitor Centre, art galleries and other cultural stops. Guided by a real Nunavummiut (Nunavut’s inhabitants), you will gain insight into the community that you simply couldn’t get otherwise. Your guide will point out the highlights of the town’s history and its unique Northern characteristics. And make sure to ask plenty of questions!
Dog Sledding Excursion
Arctic dog sledding
One of the most iconic images of the North! Come discover the immensity of our region comfortably seated on a traditional qamotiq (Inuit sled). The dogs will run over the snow-covered tundra and the frozen ocean in a fan hitch, the harnessing style typical to Nunavut. This is the perfect activity for your first dog sled outing, and you will get the chance to learn the basics of being a ‘musher.’
Arctic snowmobile excursion
Drive your own snowmobile over mountains, and across lakes and the frozen ocean. Follow the migratory paths of the caribou, track Arctic fox, wolves and rock ptarmigan. These powerful beasts have gradually taken the place of sled dogs in the life of Nunavummiut, and are now the fastest way to discover the immensity of our Territory.
Available on demand, December to June
