Engage with your friendly host, discovering insights about daily life in this unique Inuit community.

Uncover fascinating local history as you tour the streets—from the settlement of Frobisher Bay, to the official formation of Nunavut, to today.

This excursion is tailored to your interests—perhaps you’ll stop at Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre or Nunatta Sunakkutaangit Museum, or visit boutique shops to peruse wares crafted by Nunavut’s many working artists.

Sea Kayaking Excursion

Without a doubt, the kayak is one of the Inuit’s most important symbols of ingenuity and adaptation to the environment. Enjoy detailed instruction from an experienced guide then glide across the water in your sea kayak and discover Iqaluit from another perspective. Explore the sea banks, whether they be rocky escarpments or soft sandy shores, there’s a surprise awaiting you at every turn. Follow the rhythm of the tides as you explore, keep eye for sea bird and try to spot the curious seals along the way.

Hiking Excursion

Set foot where no one has before. Explore Iqaluit and its surroundings in the company of a local guide. Learn about the flora and fauna while trekking across the tundra. Hike across caribou country, and discover the playground of the Inuit. During the six-hour hike, you will encounter rock embankments, fields of native herbs and flowers, tidal marshlands, ancient Inuit camping grounds, and summits where you can scan the Arctic Ocean.
